Kentucky and Memphis Linked To International Big

UPDATE: Ivisic announced he committed to Kentucky. This is a major late addition for Coach Calipari and the Wildcats. He is expected to be a key contributor off the bench this season.

Kentucky and Memphis are both pursuing Croatian big man Zvonimir Ivisic. Ivisic is a 7-foot-2, 220-pound center than can stretch the floor and protect the rim. He’s currently projected as a second-round pick in the 2024 draft.

Kentucky’s frontcourt depth is reeling after injuries to both Aaron Bradshaw and Ugonna Onyenso. Bradshaw had surgery last month to repair a broken foot and Onyenso will be out a few months after a foot surgery of his own. Both are expected to make full recoveries and play this season, but Kentucky can’t afford another setback at that position.

Memphis is still waiting on the eligibility status of senior center DeAndre Williams. There is growing optimism among the staff that he will get a waiver, but Penny Hardaway is working on a backup plan just in case.

There are questions surrounding Ivisic’s amateur eligibility, but both teams will continue to pursue him until those questions are answered.
