Source: UCLA Transfer Down To Two Schools

UCLA transfer Mac Etienne is reportedly down to two schools. The 6-foot-10 center is choosing between DePaul and La Salle, per source.

Etienne entered the transfer portal on May 11 after appearing in 32 games last year for the Bruins. He sat out the previous season due to a torn ACL and played sparingly his freshman year.

DePaul has one open scholarship remaining and desperately needs to bolster their front court depth. Freshman Churchill Abass is currently the only true center on the roster and the Blue Demons are looking for someone with more experience to play while he develops.

La Salle has three open scholarships and only one center on the roster. Etienne would be able to come in and play big minutes right away if he chooses the Explorers. There’s reason to believe he would also benefit from dropping down to the A10, as the Big East is loaded with proven talent at the center position.

The source noted DePaul’s NIL package is significantly better than what La Salle is able to offer. It’s unclear what the driving factor is for the New York, N.Y. big man. There’s currently no timeline on a decision, but he’ll need to decide soon to get enrolled in fall classes.
