Ball State Loses Coleman To Transfer Portal

Ball State senior Jarron “Boogie” Coleman entered the portal as a grad transfer, the school announced on Tuesday.

Coleman started his career in Muncie and transferred to Missouri after his sophomore year. He returned to Ball State for the 22-23 season (Marfo Alert!) and averaged 14.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists. “Boogie” earned All-MAC Second Team honors in March.

One team wasted no time reaching out to the latest portal addition.

Coleman visits UCF this week, per source. The Knights are in the market for a guard after losing Jaykwon Walton and Ithiel Horton. UCF head coach Johnny Dawkins is firmly on the hot seat this year and needs a quality addition to compete in the stacked Big 12.

There will be plenty of teams vying for Coleman’s services this late in the cycle. Given the timing of his entry, I don’t expect this recruitment to last long. Players must enroll by the start of the fall semester to be considered eligible.

The announcement marks the first of a handful of transfers expected to hit the portal in August. Summer classes end over the next two weeks, giving those who graduate the eligibility to transfer without a waiver.
