Every day this season we’ll post our best bets for the slate of games. Here’s what we’ve got our money on this evening.

Queens +6.5 at Marshall
These two teams played a thriller on opening night last year, with Queens taking down the Thundering Herd, 83-82. The biggest difference between this year and last year is Marshall’s roster. Dan D’Antoni’s squad lost their three best players (Andrew Taylor, Taevion Kinsey & Micah Handlogten) and needs to replace a combined 49.9 points per game between them. Grant Leonard returns four guys who started 15 or more games last year. His up-tempo, three-point shooting barrage will keep the Royals in the game and makes them a very dangerous upset candidate. We see another close, high-scoring thriller going down in Huntington tonight. Take the points.
Youngstown State +4.5 at Louisiana
Full disclosure, this is a Youngstown State stan account. We love Jerrod Calhoun’s offense and while they lost a lot last year, we’re high on what they did to replace the production in the portal. The ‘Guins added a bunch of older guys that averaged double-digits in scoring last season. They’ll all get a boost from an offense that finished fifth in the country in points per game (81.9). Louisiana is raising a Sun Belt tournament title banner tonight, but without Jordan Brown and Greg Williams, we don’t think they can sustain their success from last season. Brown was the straw that stirred the drink for the Ragin Cajuns’ and we think they’ll come out flat after celebrating last year’s tournament run.
Iona at Charleston Over 154.5
Points! Life’s too short to bet the under, especially when a Tobin Anderson team is facing a Pat Kelsey team. Anderson’s Fairleigh Dickinson squad attacked the rim relentlessly and picked up full-court on defense. We expect more of the same from Iona, but a little less polished on the defensive end in their first game. Pat Kelsey’s team was top-30 in tempo last season and 47.8% of their shots were threes, good for 8th in the country. So how do we see this playing out? Iona will pressure the rim and earn a ton of free throws with the new block/charge rules. Charleston will carve up the press and shoot a ton of open threes. Take the over in this one and enjoy the track meet.
