Recruiting Nuggets 11.3.23

We’re five days away from the early signing period and there’s not many top prospects left on the board. Here’s the latest on a few of the top names still out there.

Derik Queen

Last week, we noted an opportunity for other teams to close the gap on Maryland and the next day Houston and Kansas were in to visit him. Since then, things have gone dark aside from a flurry of social media stirring by Joe Tipton. As of writing, we still believe Maryland has control of this race and we’d be surprised if this doesn’t get wrapped up in the early signing period.

Sammie Yeanay

Yeanay will announce his decision today and we like the Sun Devils here. Arizona State is on fire on the recruiting trail right now, landing Amier Ali and Jaden Smith in recent weeks. They’re also favored to land four-star prospect Makhan Diouf.

Daniel Jacobsen

We made a stir on the timeline yesterday with some wavering on our pick for Daniel Jacobsen. Jacobsen will announce today between Purdue and Wisconsin. We’re confident our pick is incorrect and will reflect the outcome on our predictions page.

Patrick Ngongba

We placed our prediction for Ngongba on Wednesday night to the dismay of Kansas State fans. This one came down to the wire and we believe Duke will earn the big man’s commitment. Kansas State fans need to remember this recruitment when their guy is flirting with other jobs in the future.

VJ Edgecombe

Edgecombe is another prospect Blue Devil fans should be paying attention to. The five-star guard is set to visit St. John’s next weekend and the Johnnies are likely Duke’s biggest competition. There was a ton of buzz surrounding Duke and Edgecombe coming out of the Countdown to Craziness visit – enough so that he’s canceled all of his other visits. We’ll be quick to put in an official prediction following the visit next weekend.

Derrion Reid

This one has gone back and forth so many times we’ve lost track. Good luck to whoever lands him.

Tre Johnson

Baylor and Texas continue to battle for Johnson’s services. Recent intel suggests the Longhorns have taken over the Bears as the favorite in this one thanks to some substantial NIL offerings.

Vyctorious Miller

We placed a prediction for Miller last week and we like the Tigers here.

Gicarri Harris

Things have been relatively quiet on this front, but we’d give the slight edge to Purdue in this two-horse race with Georgia Tech.

Zoom Diallo

There were rumblings he would commit on his birthday (yesterday), but that never materialized. We previously reported Gonzaga and Washington were the teams out front for the five-star prospect and we see no reason to change course on that right now. Arizona is still lingering behind.
