It was another big weekend on the recruiting trail. Here’s what we heard around the country.
Cooper Flagg Visits UConn
Without a doubt, the biggest visit of the weekend took place in Storrs, CT. The defending national champions hosted the most coveted recruit in country and there were no shortage of tweets like the one above documenting his presence. Flagg’s trip to UConn is the first of three visits on the docket, with Kansas and Duke set to host him in the coming weeks.
UConn has some ground to make up in the Flagg sweepstakes. Duke is the overwhelming favorite to land the No. 1 ranked prospect, with Bill Self and Kansas lurking behind. You can never say never in the recruiting world, but multiple sources indicated UConn fans shouldn’t put all their eggs in this basket.
LSU Hosts Everyone Else
LSU hosted a laundry list of prospects on campus this weekend.
Matt McMahon is looking to attract some SEC caliber talent and build some momentum on the trail after a disappointing first year in Baton Rouge. The Tigers were able to secure a commitment from four-star big man Robert Miller III, marking their first major pickup of the 2024 class. As for the 2024s on campus this weekend, LSU has some ground to make up with each of them. We’ll see if their visits swing the momentum in the coming weeks.
Tyler Betsey and Jase Richardson Visit Cincinnati
Wes Miller hosted a pair of high-profile visitors on campus this weekend.
Multiple sources indicated it’s a two-horse race for Tyler Betsey between Alabama and the Bearcats. Betsey recently canceled his visit to Duke and will likely be in decision-making mode in the coming weeks. As with many high-profile recruitments lately, there seems to be a split decision among Betsey’s camp. This one is too early to call right now.
As for Richardson, the Bearcats are looking to make up ground. Alabama and Michigan State are the teams to watch here.
Labaron Philon Visits Kansas
After missing out on Jalil Bethea, Kansas pivoted quickly to Labaron Philon and Rakease Passmore. The Jayhawks had Philon on campus this weekend and have firmly put themselves in the race for the four-star point guard. Ole Miss has long been considered the team to beat here thanks to Philon’s relationship with Wes Flanigan.
The other factor at play here is Passmore’s recruitment. Multiple sources indicated Arkansas is the team to beat there. He’s set to visit Fayetteville next week and there’s confidence around the program that they’ll be able to secure a commitment on the visit. If Kansas misses on Passmore, expect them to turn the heat up even further on Philon.
Tre Johnson Visits Baylor (Again)
Tre Johnson made his second official visit to Baylor this weekend and multiple sources suggest Baylor continues to lead in this recruitment. The other two schools to watch in this one are Texas and Kentucky. Kentucky has come on strong as of late, but we don’t believe it will be enough to convince him to leave the state of Texas.
Derrion Reid Cutting His List
2024 five-star Derrion Reid made some phone calls over the weekend to eliminate schools from his recruitment. We don’t have an exact timeline on his decision yet, but it may be sooner rather than later. Two teams to watch here:
Ryan Jones Sets Commitment Date
2024 four-star Ryan Jones is set to announce his decision next week. The team to watch here?

The Latest On Aiden Sherrell
Aiden Sherrell delayed his commitment last month and multiple sources say he is finally ready to make an announcement. Look for Sherrell to make a decision on Tuesday.
