The Latest On Karter Knox

Published

on

Karter Knox is the consensus ranked 6th player overall in the 2024 class. The five-star wing released a top-eight that included Auburn, Arkansas, Florida State, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, South Florida and the G-League Ignite. A source involved in his recruiting process spoke with @nickelhardaway to update the recruitment.

Knox expects to cut his list down to four teams in the next two weeks. His camp is taking the time to figure out what teams will look like down the road and where Karter fits with them. Knox recently committed to play for Overtime Elite. He also signed with LIFT Sports Management for NIL representation.

Breaking Down Teams Involved

Arkansas: “Muss talks and communicates with us a lot. They had three wing-type players get drafted just last year (Black, Smith, Walsh). (They have) a lot of transfer portal kids, who’s going to stay? Got to see about that. Muss also coached in the NBA.”

Auburn: “We haven’t heard much from Auburn.”

Florida State: “Mom and dad bleed garnet and gold. Coach Ham has put pros in (the league) at that guard/wing position. Scottie, Patrick, Devin. (They want) him to be part of that.”

Kentucky: “They are La Familia. Cal knows us well. Cal says they breed pros and Karter is a pro. They are anticipating a lot of their guard/wing guys to go pro and there is a slot for Karter. Going back to the dribble-drive this year and Karter can get down hill, but also shoot.”

Louisville: “Trae Young and Cade Cunningham spent one year at their (respective) schools and took them to the tournament. Why can’t that be Karter? They have a lot of pieces and they think Karter can be the glue.”

LSU: “Topp has been preaching they need players. They think they have a great system, great staff and great brand. They just need difference makers like Karter.” *Note: Toppert just took a job with the Wizard’s G-League team*

Providence: “Kim English is getting involved heavy, probably taking a visit sometime. They have two wings, one will probably be a first round pick. Kim says they tailor their offense towards guards/wings. He played the position at a high level.”

NBA Ignite: “They talk to us a lot and Jason Hart is saying Karter is a pro. Why not come here, play against pros and start that process? They are a huge factor.”

Visit Schedule

Knox already visited Kentucky and Louisville unofficially last year. He plans to take official visits to both this fall. Providence is also expected to get a visit in the near future.

Commitment Timeline

“We’ll probably make a decision around Christmas time.”
